Orientation for a Client (10 Minutes)

  1. Point out the parts of the system
    • Main Camera
    • TV
    • Microphone
  2. Before the Session
    • Adjust the camera so they can be seen clearly by other side
    • Instruct them to speak clearly, in a normal voice
    • Let them know about the transmission delay. Instruct them to wait for a response and not to interrupt
    • Let them know how long the session will be and what time you will be back to the room
    • Tell them where you will be, so that they can find you if they have any difficulties
    • If in a multi-point session:
      • Show them how to mute and un-mute the microphone to avoid unwanted noise during the session
  3. Getting them started
    • Tell them you are going to un-mute the microphone and get started
    • Introduce them to the far site
    • Help them to start talking if necessary (instruct them to “Say hello”)
    • Tell them how to contact you if they have any difficulties
  4. After the Session
    • Obtain feedback on how they felt telehealth worked for their session and what could be done to improve their experience
