Services and Benefits for Seniors - Government of Canada

Extended Health Care Benefits - Provides a range of services, including medical supplies and equipment, dental care, optical care and services to persons over 65 years of age and their spouses who are 60 years of age and over, whose benefits are not covered by private insurance.

Home Care - Yukon Home Care Program delivers health-related services to individuals who have difficulty accessing services in the community due to mobility or health restraints.

Pharmacare - The Pharmacare progam will pay for the total cost of the lowest priced generics of all prescription drugs listed in the Yukon Pharmacare Formulary, for persons 65 years of age and over and their spouses' 60 years of age and over, whose benefits are not covered by private insurance.

Pioneer Utility Grant (PUG) - The Pioneer Utility Grant (PUG) is available to seniors who are 65 years of age or older. It assists with the cost of heating owned or rented units. In 2014 the base rate was $1030.17.

Yukon Seniors Income Supplement (YSIS) - The Yukon Seniors Income Supplement provides an income supplement of up to $247.53 monthly to low income seniors 65 years and over who are also receiving the federal old age security (OAS) and guaranteed income supplement (GIS).
