FLU CLINIC UPDATE FOR WEEK OF JANUARY 20:

Seasonal flu vaccines are available as follows:

Whitehorse Health Centre
Monday to Friday: 8:00 to 8:45 am (daily drop-in; no appointment necessary)
Fridays: 1:00 to 4:00 pm (drop-in; no appointment necessary)
NOTE: No appointment slots left this week. Call 667-8864 if you want to make an appointment for next week.

Kwanlin Dun Health Centre
Monday to Friday: 9:00 to 11:30 am; 1:00 to 3:30 pm
Closed over lunch.

Community Health Centres
In the communities, please contact your local health centre for flu clinic hours.


Who should get the seasonal flu shot?

The Yukon's Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Brendan Hanley, recommends that all Yukoners receive their seasonal flu vaccine each year.

Seasonal Flu/Immunization Vaccination Facts

  • Maximum protection occurs two weeks after immunization - lasts for six months
  • Side effects do not occur in everyone but can include soreness, redness or swelling where the shot was given
  • Influenza vaccine cannot cause influenza
  • Vaccination has been shown to prevent illness in 70-90 per cent of healthy children and adults
  • Vaccine is provided free of charge to all Yukoners
