If you miss any of the dedicated flu clinics, you can still obtain your flu shot by contacting your community health centre. In Whitehorse, the health centre offers flu shots during their morning and afternoon drop-in times and the Kwanlin Dun Health Centre will continue to offer flu shots daily.

Getting the flu while you're travelling can put a real damper on your vacation. You'll feel far from home and the comforts of your own bed.  Get the seasonal flu vaccine before you travel.  Protect yourself-as well as those you meet and those you hug on your return-from this year's predominant flu viruses, including H1N1.

The seasonal flu shot is available to all Yukoners that want or need it.

Seasonal Flu/Immunization Vaccination Facts

• Maximum protection occurs two weeks after immunization - lasts for six months
• Side effects do not occur in everyone but can include soreness, redness or swelling where the shot was given
• Influenza vaccine cannot cause influenza
• Vaccination has been shown to prevent illness in 70-90 per cent of healthy children and adults
