Addiction - School-based prevention

There are several means by which Prevention Services supports alcohol and drug education provided by the Department of Education in the schools.

School presentations

Prevention Consultants deliver alcohol and drug education presentations in the schools.

These presentations may be in the Career and Personal Planning classes or in any other subject setting where the teacher would like to focus on prevention or awareness of addictions issues. Presentations are delivered based on the availability of the Prevention Consultants.

If presentations are requested from the High Schools in Whitehorse, requests are coordinated with the Youth Mental Health and Addiction Counsellor from Alcohol and Drug Services.
