Care Facilities

There are five continuing care facilities in the Yukon. Birch Lodge, Copper Ridge Place, Thomson Centre and Macaulay Lodge are located in Whitehorse and McDonald Lodge provides care services in Dawson City.

Birch Lodge

Birch Lodge offers 10 rooms of Intermediate level of care.

This features a home-like environment with a small number of both staff and residents. It allows for flexible options in providing support for residents, while still providing the high quality of care.

  • Intermediate Care - The Intermediate Care program provides care and support to individuals who require moderate assistance with activities of daily living and monitoring and/or professional care on an intermittent basis throughout the day.

Copper Ridge Place

Copper Ridge Place is a 96-bed facility that provides the following residential and respite care services:

  • Extended Care
  • Complex Chronic Care
    - The program provides care services for individuals who require extensive assistance with their activities of daily living and monitoring and/or professional care on a 24-hour basis. The program provides specialized care for seniors, adults and children.
  • Special Care
    The Special Care Program provides individualized care in a therapeutic and secure environment for clients with dementia.

Macaulay Lodge

Macaulay Lodge offers 47 beds of Intermediate level residential and respite care for seniors and adults.

The program provides care and support to individuals who require moderate assistance with their activities of daily living and monitoring and/or professional care on an intermittent basis throughout the day.

McDonald Lodge

McDonald Lodge provides residential care to individuals who require light to moderate assistance (personal care) with their activities of daily living and monitoring and/or professional care on an intermittent basis throughout the day.

Also provides Home Care Nursing and Home Support Services to clients who live in their own home.

There are 11 residential beds, including two respite beds.

Thomson Centre

Thomson Centre is a 29-bed facility that provides the following residential care

Intermediate Care - The Intermediate Care program provides care and support to individuals who require moderate assistance with their activities of daily living and monitoring and/or professional care on an intermittent basis throughout the day.

Extended Care – the extended care program provides care services for individuals who require extensive assistance with their daily living activities, and monitoring and/or professional care on a 24 hour basis. This program provides services for seniors and adults.
