Services delivered through Regional Services Offices are as follows:
Child Welfare
- identification of problems leading to family breakdown and child abuse/neglect;
- remedial action to prevent family breakdown and child abuse/neglect, i.e. respite care for special needs children, counseling services, in-home support, and support to
- community services that improve family functioning;
- investigation and assessment of reported child abuse or neglect;
- taking children into care of the Director, either by agreements with parents or by order of the Territorial Court;
- adoption services;
- services to children in care;
- recruitment and support of foster homes.
Youth Probation
- preparing Pre-Sentence Reports, progress reports, reviews and undertakings;
- support of diversion/extrajudicial measures;
- monitoring and counseling young persons;
- supervision of community service orders
Family Services
- case management to individuals and families;
- alcohol and drug services referrals;
- prevention services in response to a child in need of protection
Community Support Services
- services to seniors, case management and assisting to access services;
- provision of services to persons with disabilities in cooperation with the Social Services Branch of H&SS;
Adult Protection Services
- Provision of services for those eligible under the Decision Making, Support and Protection to Adults Act for supports related to health care, personal care and financial and property decisions.
