H1N1 (Human Swine Flu) - Assessment Clinic
If you think have th flu, read below to see if you should visit the Flu Assessment Clinic.
The Flu Assessment Clinic is located at 210 Elliott Street (red building between 2nd and 3rd Avenue) in Whitehorse. It is drop-in, 7 days a week from 2:00PM until 8:00PM. No appointment is necessary, and it is free of charge.

Who should visit the flu assessment clinic?
The flu assessment clinic should be visited by people if they have flu symptoms AND:
- belong to a group at risk of developing complications, such as: pregnant women, children under 2 years of age, adults over 65 years of age, and those with a weakened immune system, chronic illness or obesity issues.
- have a fever lasting more than 3 days
- have increased trouble breathing
Who should NOT visit the flu assessment clinic?
You do not need to go to the flu assessment clinic if you managing your symptoms well at home, AND you aren't in a group that is at risk of developing complications (see list above), you don't have trouble breathing and you haven't had a fever lasting more than 3 days.
You should also not go to the flu assessment clinic and instead go immediately to the hospital emergency or your community health centre (if possible, call ahead first) if you have the flu and one or more of the following symptoms:
- shortness of breath (wheezing, difficulty breathing)
- chest pain
- drowsiness, confusion, disorientation or difficulty being roused
- dehydration/no urination for 12 hours
- fever in an infant less than 3 months old
If necessary, call 911 or Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in the communities.
