Rapid access counselling

Rapid access counselling is 1 session of targeted counselling. It's designed to support you in the moment and help you find solutions.

This counselling is available Monday through Friday.

Clinical counselling services

Clinical counselling is for people:

  • living with mental health issues;
  • living with substance use challenges; or
  • supporting someone with mental health or substance use issues.

How to access this counselling

To begin the process:

  2. Everyone starts with 1 appointment for rapid access counselling within 72 hours of your first call.
  3. Based on your goals and the type of support or counselling you're looking for, we'll discuss available services.

We aim to connect people with the service you require as quickly as possible, but there can be a wait for longer-term counselling or for a specific group to start. We'll offer you support for your needs while you wait.

Group counselling services

We offer groups and classes for a variety of mental health and substance use issues.

Changeways

This is a cognitive-behavioural therapy group for people with:

  • low mood; or
  • depression.

This therapy is made up of 7 sessions. They're designed to help you learn skills to manage and improve your mood.

You're asked to:

  • complete an intake; and
  • commit to attending all sessions.

Surviving anxiety

This is a cognitive-behavioural therapy group for people with anxiety of any kind who would like to learn skills to manage their anxiety. This course is made up of 7 sessions.

You're asked to:

  • complete an intake; and
  • commit to attending all sessions.

Trauma information group

This group is for people who have experienced trauma and would like to:

  • better understand its effect on their lives; and
  • learn coping skills.

This therapy consists of 10 sessions.

To be eligible to attend you must:

  • complete an intake; 
  • commit to attending all sessions; and
  • be also working with an individual counsellor, either with us or in the community.

Dialectical behavioural therapy

Dialectical behavioural therapy is a 4-module group that lasts 8 months. It's for people who'd like to:

  • learn new strategies to manage different emotions;
  • be more in the present moment; and
  • learn interpersonal skills.

To be eligible to attend you must:

  • complete an intake;
  • commit to attending all sessions; and
  • be working with an individual counsellor (either with us or in the community) who can support you during the entire time you are in group.

Foundations

Foundations is an educational group that meets once a week. Discussion topics include:

  • change;
  • introduction to cognitive-behavioural therapy;
  • emotions;
  • self-care;
  • relationships; and
  • mindfulness.

If you’re wondering if groups might be helpful for you or you're looking for basic skills and information, this group is a great place to start.

This program is also sometimes offered in French.

Elements

Elements is an educational workshop series that meets once a week. It introduces practical skills and ideas that can be useful in daily life.  Topics change weekly and include:

  • anxiety and lifting mood;
  • understanding trauma;
  • substance use;
  • exploring use; and
  • self-compassion.

Mental health support group

This drop-in group is for individuals who are looking for a group setting and are impacted by mental health issues like:

  • depression;
  • anxiety;
  • chronic pain; and
  • difficulty expressing emotions.

This group provides individuals with the opportunity to learn and share practical strategies to enhance wellbeing.

Recovery group

The recovery group is a drop-in support group for people interested in making a change to their substance use.
