Hi, I'm Dr. Brendan Hanley and I'm Yukon's Chief Medical Officer of Health.

The Arctic Winter Games are coming from March 4th to 10th, 2012.

0:00:16.000,0:00:20.000
2000 athletes and 2600 volunteers will be meeting in Whitehorse.

0:00:23.000,0:00:29.000
We'll be hosting people from all over the cirumpolar North, from as far away as Scandinavia and Russia.

0:00:30.000,0:00:33.000
Of course, our visitors will want to remain healthy while they are in Yukon.

0:00:34.000,0:00:37.000
We're doing our best to encourage them to come with all their immunizations up to date.

0:00:38.000,0:00:40.000
But immunization programs can be vary from country to country.

0:00:41.000,0:00:48.000
That's why, the best way to protect ourselves as well as our visitors is by ensuring our own immunizations are up to date.

0:00:49.000,0:00:057.000
That includes everything from measles and mumps, to meningitis, tetanus, whooping couph - or pertussis, and this year's flu shot.

0:01:03.000,0:01:13.000
The games are an exciting event for all the athletes, coaches, trainers and volunteers - not to mention the spectators... and no one wants to miss out because of illness.

0:01:14.000,0:01:25.000
If you live in Whitehorse, call the Whitehorse Health Centre at 667-8864, or the Kwanlin Dunn Health Centre at 668-7289, to find out how to update your immunizations.

Let's make these not just the best, but the healthiest Arctic Winter Games yet.

0:01:40.000,0:01:45.000
With up to date immunizations, you can protect yourself, your community, and our guests from illness.

0:01:50.000,0:01:55.000
As well as making sure you are fully immunized, remember three easy steps to keep you healthy during  the games.

0:01:56.000,0:02:00.000
1. Don't share personal items such as towels, mouth guards, water bottles or lip balms.

0:02:01.000,0:02:03.000
2. Cough or sneeze into your elbow - not your hands.

0:02:04.000,0:02:07.000
3. Wash or disinfect your hands as often as you can.

0:02:08.000,0:02:10.000
And have a great games!!
