Medical Officer of Health
The office of the Yukon’s Medical Officer of Health is responsible for the Department of Health and Social Services’ legislated responsibility to protect and promote the public’s health in a variety if areas.
- Communicable disease control
- Environmental health
- Emergency preparedness and response
In addition, the Medical Officer of Health works in collaboration with numerous federal and provincial/territorial representatives on a number of national and international issues, including immunization, pandemic influenza preparedness, HIV/AIDS and hepatitis awareness and West Nile virus.
