Early Childhood Education Bursary
Financial support for Yukon residents pursuing studies in Early Childhood Education is now available.
Yukon residents who are pursuing (or are interested in pursuing) Early Childhood studies at a recognized, accredited post-secondary institution in Canada and who meet one of the following criteria are eligible to apply for a bursary for part-time or full-time studies:
- those entering the Early Learning and Child Care profession without any training;
- those working towards their Diploma in Early Childhood studies while working in the profession;
- those holding a Diploma in Early Childhood studies and who wish to pursue further education in this area of study.
Yukon residents who meet the eligibility criteria noted above can apply for a bursary by filling out an application form and submitting it along with the required supporting documents. More details can be found in the following documents:
- Full-Time Early Childhood Education Bursaries: Application Instructions, Deadlines & Selection Criteria
- Part-Time Early Childhood Education Bursaries: Application Instructions, Deadlines & Selection Criteria
Applications for part-time bursaries are accepted on a continuous basis. Applications for full-time bursaries must be submitted by the due date specified in the above document. Late applications for full-time bursaries will not be accepted.
Full-time Early Childhood Education Bursaries
Up to three bursaries of $2,000 per term for a maximum of four terms are available to Yukon residents enrolled in full-time Early Childhood Education studies at a recognized, accredited post-secondary institution in Canada.
Each year, one of the three bursaries will be reserved for a resident of a Yukon community outside Whitehorse. If no applications from community residents are received in a given year, this funding will be released to other Yukon applicants. All applications for bursaries for full-time studies will be evaluated by a committee.
Applicants taking courses through Yukon College must apply for financial support from the College before applying for a bursary under this program. Bursary applicants must indicate on their application form any funding they will be receiving from Yukon College to support their Early Childhood Education studies at the College.
Part-time Early Childhood Education Bursaries
Part-time bursaries cover tuition costs for a maximum of 2 courses per year (April 1 to March 31) to a maximum of $500 per course. The two courses can be taken in the same term or in subsequent terms. Bursary funds cannot be used to challenge a course.
Students can apply for further funding (up to two courses per year) at any time, but will not receive approved funding until after they have submitted proof of successful completion of all previous courses for which they were awarded a bursary.

Recipients of both full-time and part-time bursaries are required to adhere to specific conditions to ensure that the funds are being used to help students progress through their Early Childhood Education studies. For example, before part-time recipients can receive bursary funds for future courses, they must submit official transcripts for all previous courses for which a bursary has been received.
