Highlights of the new Act include:

• supporting families and extended families to care for their children;
• introduction of the requirement for all Yukon residents to report suspected child abuse;
• changes to the disclosure of adoption records; and
• collaborative planning processes such as family conferencing, to involve family groups in decision making for their children.
