Youth Service Worker

The Young Offenders Facility provides care and supervision to young persons in a custodial setting. As a Youth Service Worker you will provide young offenders with a safe and secure environment while supervising youth behavior and activities to teach them a variety of skills such as social, academic and life skills. As a member of our team you have a genuine interest in working with youth at risk and strive to engage these youth in an open and positive manner. You possess an understanding of the issues these youth face and exhibit flexibility and creativity when facing some of the challenges inherent in this environment.

  • Diploma in Social Services or Corrections, from a recognized institution;
  • Experience working with youth at risk (12-17yrs);
  • Experience delivering various programs to youth.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Condition(s) of Employment: Security clearance; Valid Yukon Class 5 driver’s license, TB Testing; CPR Level C and First Aid (to be obtained within 6 months of hire).

Job Requirement(s): Shift work is a requirement of this position.
