Residential Care Worker - 2 postitions

This competition is for two positions, one full-time restricted to males and one part-time position based on 20 hours per week.

Are you interested in working with at-risk youth in a residential setting? Children's Assessment and Treatment Services is committed to providing individualized therapeutic services to young people and their families through residential and outreach treatment.

As a Residential Care Worker you will focus on providing primary care, support and supervision to at-risk youth with behavioural, social, emotional or addictive disorders, in a residential setting. Carrying out these duties requires a thorough recognition of the importance of Yukon First Nations’ cultures and traditions. We are looking for individuals who are energetic, flexible and organized self-starters with excellent communication skills, who are able to remain calm and patient in crisis situations.

The ideal candidate(s) will have a Diploma in Child and Youth Care or other relevant field combined with experience implementing treatment with at-risk youth, as well as working with youth in recreational programs. Experience in a residential youth setting would be an asset. Equal consideration will be given to those candidates who have an equivalent combination of experience and post-secondary coursework towards a relevant degree or diploma. Candidates possessing sufficient education but who have limited relevant experience may be considered for an appointment on an underfill basis.

Conditions of Employment: Security clearance; medical clearance with TB testing; CPR Level C & Standard First Aid obtained within 6 months; valid Yukon Class 5 driver’s license.

Job Requirements: Shift work, including weekdays, evenings, nights and weekends is a requirement of the job.

A twelve month eligibility list will be established from this competition to fill future vacancies for identical positions and may also be used for similar positions within the department.
