WHITEHORSE—Minister of Health and Social Services Mike Nixon will be in Edmonton on February 4 and 5 to meet with federal, provincial and territorial ministers responsible for social services.
“We expect that the federal minister will take the opportunity to brief us on his government’s agenda to support Canadian families,” Nixon said. “At these early stages, it is all about building new relationships and finding common ground. I am also looking forward to our discussions about people with disabilities and plans for a national disabilities act.”
Provincial and territorial social service ministers will meet with their federal counterpart to share information, establish priorities and develop a plan to move forward on common goals. Other key issues to be discussed at the meeting include child care and early learning opportunities, Indigenous children in care, poverty reduction and social infrastructure.
